Education for Seapower
The Naval Perspective
In December 2018, the Department of the Navy published Education for Seapower to align the Navy’s education efforts with its strategic focus. Though the document focuses on naval education, its emphasis on critical thinking sheds light on the importance of collegiate writing for all military students.

speaking skills were not.”
-Education for Seapower

“In order to address basic skills, writing requirements have been increased in Naval Science
curricula.”

verbally and in writing, and to create the bias for ethical action in an ever-more automated world.”
